The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a second year student veterinary nurse. We are looking for a confident and enthusiastic student veterinary nurse to join our growing team. We have a wide range of cases that make every day both challenging and rewarding for all of the team. We encourage our students to be fully involved in all aspects of nursing and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work between the main hospital and some of the smaller branch practices. They will work alongside qualified vets and nurses with a wide range of knowledge, interests and further qualifications. Details of the rota are detailed below.
• 38 hours per week (averaged over a 6 week rota)
• Shift patterns cover hours 7am-8.30pm
• 1 in 6 weekends (with time off in lieu), 1 in 6 Saturday Mornings.
• No OOH (unless night team are absent)
• We offer fixed term contracts to students until the end of their training at which point the contract will be reviewed with a view to a possible permanent position.

About Us

We have 7 surgeries (5 of which are training practices) in and around the Birmingham area. Our team is large and knowledgeable with a variety of interests. We have certificate holders in medicine, surgery, cardiology, imaging and exotic patients. Some of our nurses hold certificates in exotics and zoo medicine, feline nursing and ECC. They are all happy to help and share knowledge across the team to ensure we offer a great service. We are also able to offer on-site CT scanner, MRI, ultrasounds, dental x-rays, endoscopy, K-laser and laboratory services.

Applicant Requirements

The successful candidate must be in their final year of study and ideally have completed their nursing progress log, although this is not essential. We offer full training and support to all student veterinary nurses however, we would like the candidate to be confident and competent working in a busy hospital environment.
