We have a very exciting opportunity for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly team in the beautiful Sirhowy Valley of South Wales. This is full-time position working 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 8.30am-6.30pm, plus a 1 in 8 Saturday morning shift on a fair rota basis. We have the added benefit of no out of hours or bank holidays as these are covered by our Emergency care provider VetsNow. This role would suit a Registered Veterinary Nurse looking to develop their skills and fully use their Registered Veterinary Nurse qualification to its maximum daily. We actively encourage CPD and currently have several Registered Veterinary Nurses undertaking certificates across our group. We support Student Veterinary Nurse training, so holding a clinical coach award or willing to train would be an advantage.
We are part of a group of 10 Small Animal practices based across South Wales and our branch is in the small village of Blackwood. We are close to local amenities with the town centre just 5 minutes’ walk away and we are a 30-minute drive away from the cities of Newport and Cardiff. Caerphilly town centre is just a 20-minute drive away from the clinic and is home to the historical Caerphilly castle. Also, If you love getting out and about there are numerous places to visit to take in the scenery in the surrounding area.
We have a well-established and friendly team of 4 Veterinary Surgeons, 4 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 3 Student Veterinary Nurses & 4 Veterinary Receptionists based on site with the added support from our certificate holders and other team members just a phone call away. We have a lovely well-equipped surgery and see a varied caseload of medical and surgical patients daily. There are 3 consulting rooms (1 dedicated cat room), separate dog and cat waiting areas, dental suite, spacious prep room and theatre room We have a good selection of equipment onsite which includes in-house laboratory machines, X-ray and dental X-ray units and ultrasound machine.
Our ideal candidate would be a Registered Veterinary Nurse, but we would also consider a 2nd or 3rd year Student Veterinary Nurse. We would like someone who is keen to develop the practice, as well as themselves and who enjoys all aspects of Veterinary Nursing.
