An exciting opportunity has become available at Twickenham Veterinary Surgery for a Student Veterinary Nurse!
The day to day duties are shared across the team and include;
· General nursing
· Looking after in patients
· Monitoring anaesthetics
· Cleaning and packing kits
· Laboratory work
· Helping vets with taking bloods and carrying out minor procedures
· General housekeeping duties
· Nurse clinics
· Laser clinics
Your shifts will be 40 hours a week across 5 days, working between either 8am-4:30am, 10am-6:30pm, 11am-7:30pm with 30 minutes unpaid lunchbreak. You will be expected to work 1:4 Saturdays, no out of hours work required.
Salary up to £22,000 depending on experience.
We have a very friendly and down-to-earth, supportive team with lovely clients. Our practice has good facilities such as digital X-ray, ultrasound, multiparameter monitor, endoscope, laser, a dedicated nurse’s consulting room.
About the Team and Culture
Our team is made up of six vets, one with a certificate in internal medicine and another with a certificate in cardiology. We have seven veterinary nurses working both full time and part time, one student nurse, seven full time support staff and our clinical director who also does acupuncture.
We have a no blame culture and we like to discuss cases, constantly aiming to improve our protocols.
We are looking for a proactive candidate who wants to work as part of a progressive team and is willing to help build on the nursing services that we offer our clients.
We work very closely with the local animal charities and help to fund raise for them.
If applying as a first-year student our ideal candidate will have experience working in a veterinary environment (at minimum as a veterinary receptionist) as well as having the minimum requirements for entry level nursing.
Second or third year veterinary nursing students would be very welcome to apply, and we can offer a supportive environment for learning and progression.
