We are looking for a Head Nurse that will be responsible for all areas of Nursing. We have a team of 14 highly skilled nurses, several of which have post graduate qualifications in various areas, spread over our three practices in Inverness. Our main site also incorporates a referral surgery. The role will encompass managing a team of dedicated nurses that all contribute to the smooth running of the practice. Ensuring that the team are developed, and able to deliver results.
This full time role comprises working 5 days out of 7 (shifts of 8 hours). OOH duties are required on a rota basis. Weekend work is 1:10, with weekend on call 1:20.
Duties include: Managing the clinical areas to ensure that they are kept safe and hygienic in accordance with current SOPs. Ensuring efficiency and effective flow of patients through the practice. You will be a passionate individual that can demonstrate the desire to grow and motivate a team to become the best. You must be able to lead by example, being able to deliver a professional standard of care alongside your management duties. Holding monthly team meetings and conducting appraisals bi-annually to be fully understanding of the team. Be able to identify and manage change, working closely with the other teams in the practice. Work with the CD/PM to suggest and make changes. Increase client communication to offer the highest level of customer service. Assist the CD in clinical audits and with Practice Standards. Attend Practice Update Meetings and communicate relevant information effectively to ensure good two-way communication between the nursing team and management. Utilising everyone’s interests to increase nurse consults and offer customers targeted consults to improve pet health. Work with the marketing team to promote the team, our services, and the practice. Manage the HR aspect of the role, including use of our HR system, to manage holiday, sickness including the return to work meetings. Ensuring the rota is fair and equal and works with the vet rota. Ensure you develop a team for the future by working with colleagues and maintaining our commitment to students training through close partnership with the designated clinical coaches.
Crown Vets is a long-established practice offering a high level of first opinion care. This is complemented by a referrals service offering care to the whole Highland area. We have excellent facilities and equipment and are always looking to improve on our existing service and capabilities. We currently have three practices in Inverness, two of which offer surgery and all offer Nurse and Vet consults.
We are looking for a Head Registered Veterinary Nurse, looking to work in a fast-paced, busy environment. The successful applicant will enjoy being part of a large team and a varied environment. You should ideally be experienced in managing a team, having previous experience of improving performance, taking responsibility for all areas of nursing, including equipment, H&S, clinical care, hygiene, practice standards. You should understand and know how to manage the dangerous drugs audit and pharmacy stock control. Someone who wishes to use their skills and is keen to progress their knowledge and share with colleagues will thrive here. RCVS Qualified Nurse with a wealth of experience, confident and strong leader, excellent communication skills, empathetic nature, supportive leader, striving to achieve and enthusiastic, delivering excellent clinical care, post graduate qualifications desirable but not essential.
