An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team here at Oakmount Veterinary Centre, Burnley! We are looking for a confident compassionate and enthusiastic team member, offering an exceptional level of care to our long standing loyal client base. Opening hours of the clinic are Monday- Friday 8-7.30pm, Saturday & Sunday 8.30-5pm. The rota would include 1 Saturday morning per month, there is also no out of hours and no Sunday hours. The role will encompass nursing of inpatients, surgical nursing, monitoring of anaesthesia, nursing consultations, and also working with our exotic’s specialist. This is a full-time role with minimum of 35 hours a week, but part time applicants would be considered. Work can be fast-paced and demanding, and the ability to deliver in a busy environment and fit into our team is essential.
Separate dog, cat, isolation and exotic wards. The hospital has two dedicated operating theatres, and we are proud to use the most modern anaesthetic techniques available. We have an array of cutting-edge equipment including a digital X-ray machine, ECG, colour doppler ultrasound scanner, capnography, video endoscope, tonopen diathermy and thermocautery. In addition, we have a designated Idexx laboratory. We work with visiting ultrasonography specialists. Our nursing team are encouraged to perform schedule 3 procedures. Situated close to Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and Manchester. Candidates will be able to work with the exotic specialist.
About the Team and Culture
8 Vets, 10 Registered Nurses, 2 kennel assistants, 3 student nurses. Veterinary Certificate holder in exotics, 1 nurse studying for medical nursing certificate, 1 nurse studying for anaesthesia certificate. Registered nurse with Feline Diploma in Feline Nursing. The hospital teamwork with many local charities and on Thursday evenings some of the team help local charity Street Paws providing vital care for homeless people and their pets.
