Our client has a leadership role within the veterinary nursing team, tailored for a Registered Veterinary Nurse with experience in nursing and/or leadership. The role of Lead Nurse involves working closely with the Clinical Nursing Manager to manage the Out of Hours nursing team, while maintaining a high standard of clinical care and offering leadership and mentorship to team members.
The successful candidate will be responsible for and required to
- Lead and manage the Out of Hours nursing team.
- Provide leadership, support, and coaching for the team to maintain high clinical standards.
- Offer mentorship, particularly to new team members, and oversee their induction and performance plans.
- Assist in developing nurses, including students, supporting their career growth and training.
- Balance the role with 95% clinical work and 5% administrative tasks.
- Maintain good communication with other Lead Nurses and the Clinical Nursing Manager.
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
The practice highly values RVN input and considers the nursing team integral to patient care and recovery and offers support for career progression and ensures nurses are fully utilized and empowered to work to their full capabilities within the nurse career framework. CPD and advanced qualification/Certificates are encouraged, with support for those who wish to pursue further professional development.
This is a permanent, full-time role working 37.5 hours a week over 4 days with a shared Rota covering ward anaesthetics and consulting shifts when needed.
