We are looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly team. Our nursing team has a reputation for providing gold standard patient care. Enthusiastic, self-motivated and resilient, you will enjoy keeping pace with our wide and varied caseload and demonstrate strong communication skills. The duties for this role include preparing animals for theatre, monitoring anaesthetics, assisting in theatre, positioning animals for x-rays and CTs, performing Schedule 3 nursing procedures, providing intensive nursing care to hospitalised patients, performing detailed and accurate kennel rounds and performing in-house lab tests, with the support of our full time laboratory technician. This is a full-time role of 40 hours per week, covering all shifts on a rota basis including (approx.) 1:10 weekends and a Saturday night. We are lucky to have two full time night nurses that cover Sunday – Friday.
Oakham Veterinary Hospital is a long-established practice on the outskirts of Oakham, Rutland. Our purpose-built premises are set in 8.5 acres surrounded by beautiful, rural countryside. We have extensive hospital facilities and diagnostic equipment in both our equine and small animal departments, including MRI and CT. We are dedicated to deliver the very best of veterinary care and service and are proud to have RCVS Hospital and ISFM Gold Cat Friendly status. We also have a clinical association with the University of Nottingham School of Veterinary Medicine and Science, giving us access to expertise from leading veterinary specialists.
The ideal candidate must be a Registered Veterinary Nurse with previous small animal practice experience. There is lots of scope for professional development due to our hospital status, provision of our own OOH work and large, supportive team of vets and nurses. CPD is encouraged and funded.
