The Role
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Registered Veterinary Nurse at Dr Doolittle’s to take the role of Head Nurse/Supervisor.
This position is ideal for a nurse who is looking to develop their skills and fully use their qualification to its maximum daily. We support the training of Student Nurse so holding a clinical coach award or having an interest in training for this would be an advantage.
This is a full-time position working 39hrs over 4 days between 8:30 am-7 pm Monday to Friday, worked out on a fair rota basis. We have the added benefit of not working out of hours or bank holidays as these are covered by our Emergency Care Provider VetsNow.
The salary for this role is up to £30,000 depending on experience.
About Us
Dr Doolittle’s is a group of 8 Small Animal practices based across South Wales, with our Whitchurch practice situated just outside of Cardiff city centre. We are close to local amenities with the local town just a 5-minute walk away and we are a 40-minute drive away from the Newport city centre. Cardiff city centre is just a 10-minute drive away from the clinic and is home to the historical Cardiff castle. Also, if you love getting out and about there are numerous places to visit to take in the scenery in the surrounding area.
We have a lovely well-equipped surgery and see a varied caseload of medical and surgical patients daily. There are 3 consulting rooms, separate dog and cat waiting areas, separate x-ray and dental suites, a spacious prep room and a theatre area. We have a good selection of equipment onsite which includes in-house laboratory machines, X-ray and dental X-ray units, ultrasound machine, baer huggar and multiparameter.
About the Team and Culture
We have a well-established and friendly team of 1.5 Veterinary Surgeons, 2 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 1 Student Veterinary Nurse, 1 Nursing Assistant & 2 Veterinary Receptionists based on site. One of our clinical directors works from the clinic on alternate Mondays and holds a certificate in diagnostic imaging and we also have the added support from our other certificate holders and other team members just a phone call away. We actively encourage CPD and currently have several Registered Veterinary Nurses undertaking certificates across our group.
Applicant Requirements
Our ideal candidate would be an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse with a keen interest in developing their skills by leading a busy first opinion practice and who enjoys all aspects of the profession. Must hold a Registered Veterinary Nurse status and be registered with RCVS.
