We have an exciting opportunity for a Branch Head Veterinary Nurse to join our busy, friendly team. The role will include working alongside the Branch Manager and management team to ensure the smooth running of the practice and to support new ideas, initiatives and to help implement management decisions. The candidate will also be responsible for localised staff management (with support of the Nurse Manager), stock control, keeping up to date with preferred products, health and safety, RPS trained, first aider, maintenance of lab equipment, reporting broken/faulty equipment and general nursing duties.
• 40 hours per week (averaged over a 6-week rota), varied shifts throughout the week
• 1 full weekend in 6 with TOIL.
• 1 Saturday morning in 6
• Bank holidays on a rota system
• No out of hours work (as we have a dedicated night team)
Our Northfield branch is a small but very busy, 2 vet branch practice. It has good transport links and whether you love city life or enjoy a country walk we are perfectly placed to explore Birmingham city centre or the Licky hills. We are also very close to Cadbury world if you are looking for a fun day out! We have 7 surgeries (5 of which are training practices) In and around the Birmingham area. Our team is large and knowledgeable with a variety of interests. We have certificate holders in medicine, surgery, cardiology, imaging and exotic patients. Some of our nurses hold certificates in exotics and zoo medicine, feline nursing and ECC too. They are all happy to help and share knowledge across the team to ensure we offer a great service. We offer on-site CT scanner, MRI, ultrasounds, dental x-rays, endoscopy, K-laser and laboratory at the main hospital.
We are looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse who has at least 2 years qualified experience. The ideal candidate would have previous Head Nurse experience, although this is not essential. They would need to be assertive, have good leadership qualities, be excellent at time management, work well under pressure as well as being a compassionate and confident veterinary nurse.
