Registered Veterinary Nurse Required At The Oak Veterinary Group
Oak Veterinary Group
Haverfordwest, West Wales, United Kingdom
We are looking for a full time, small animal Registered Veterinary Nurse or final year student to join our team of 6 RVNs, 1 SVN and 1 ANA in beautiful Pembrokeshire, West Wales.
The role would be 37.5 hours weekly, with generous CPD and holiday allowances, plus sick leave. The hours vary through the week, with a mixture of early starts (8am), later finishes (7pm) and half days off. Nurses do cover the OOH which is currently on 1:7 weekends and 1 night on call in the week.
Our practice is committed to excellent patient care and client care within a supportive, experienced team. We are a mixed practice in Haverfordwest, the centre of Pembrokeshire, with our dedicated small animal vets covering 3 surgeries in mid and north Pembrokeshire. We are passionate about training and development, and have nurses with BSAVA Merit Awards and working towards higher qualifications. Being a bit of a distance from the nearest referral centre means we manage
most of our own cases, from cardiology to orthopaedics, and medical work-ups, ensuring an exciting and varied array of cases. Most of our cases are managed from our Haverfordwest surgery, with more routine work being carried out in the Fishguard and St Davids branches. We have an aquatic treadmill in our Fishguard surgery and enjoy rehabilitation and work with our older arthritic patients.
Our RVNs and SVNs share all types of work between them, from anaesthetics, in-patient nursing, surgical nursing, consulting, lab work, weight management and puppy socials. We believe in allowing our team to develop their interests. We have a great mix of experienced and more recently qualified nurses. We do a great Christmas party where all departments get together for a paid 3 course dinner, plus other informal functions through the year.
The successful candidate would have an interest in a variety of nursing and would be able to nurse in-patients as well as surgical cases. They would enjoy explaining and discussing patients with their owners, and support practice health schemes and preventative health. They would enjoy working as part of a varied team, and supporting their colleagues. A sense of humour and an enjoyment of all forms of snacks is preferable but not essential. Enjoying the outdoors and preferring a rural way-of-life would help in settling into the area if relocating.
