A superb opportunity has come up for a Veterinary Surgeon to join an established Small Animal practice providing an exceptional level of care to the pets of Carlisle. Pro-CPD up to certificate level, supportive team, excellent package and work-life balance.
This practice in the heart of the historic border city of Carlisle is on the lookout another small animal Veterinary Surgeon to join their welcoming team.
There is currently a team of 5 friendly, experienced vets, with varying clinical interests including surgery, orthopaedics, internal medicine, small furries and acupuncture. Supporting the vets are another 5 skilled RVNs, and an additional VCA and SVNs.
The practice itself is purpose-built and boasts fantastic facilities and equipment including 4 consult rooms, 1 dedicated ops theatre, and the capability of keeping inpatients overnight. The practice is fully equipped for orthopaedic surgery, routine and non-routine procedures, and has a range of diagnostic imaging equipment including digital x-ray, dental x-ray, a brand-new ultrasound, video endoscope, in house biochemistry.
Key Duties
The role can be flexible in terms of hours to suit your needs - anything from 25-40 hours per week can be considered. Consult times are 15 minutes with the split between consultation and surgery being up for discussion depending on your interests.
There is a small element of out of hours, however this is very quiet, averaging around 1 call out per month. This is on a fair, set-rota basis with consistent days and duty nights however the team are all more than willing to swap/cover shifts as needed.
You will be asked to work 1 in 4 Saturdays, however you will get a long weekend every month in return for this. There can be sole charge on a Saturday but there is always backup available for this as well as for call outs.
Typical working hours for a vet are 8:30am - 6:30pm, Saturday shifts finish at 4pm and these are just consults and emergencies, no routine surgeries.
