Veterinary Surgeon Required At Aniwell Veterinary Clinic In Bournemouth, Dorset
1 month ago
Aniwell Veterinary Clinic, Kinson
Bournemouth, Dorset, United KingdomWe are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and supportive team. The position is full time, 4 week rota; 3 weeks are 4 day weeks, 1 week is 5 days plus 1 weekend working in 4 (Sat 8.30-4.30, Sun 10am-12). No out of hours. Rota is a mix of early finishes at around 4pm and late finishes at 7.30 (last appointment 6.45pm).
On a typical day, we start at 8.30am. Usually one vet spends the morning operating, investigating cases and looking after hospitalised patients whilst the second vet consults. We have a team of 6 nurses who arrive at different times according to their shift. This setup is mirrored at our sister practice in Poole. We have a break at lunchtime then the consulting vet restarts at 2pm and consults through until 3pm then tidies up any loose ends and usually finishes about 4pm. The operating vet starts their afternoon consults at 3pm and continues through until the last appointment at 6.45. Appointments last 15minutes.
We are a first opinion small animal practice in the north of Bournemouth with a branch in Poole 2miles down the road. We opened in 1995 and moved into a large hospital standard clinic in 2013. We have a large reception room with a cat only waiting area in one section. Three consulting rooms open off the reception - one of these is cat only.
Behind the scenes there are separate wards for dogs, cats and isolation cases. An operating theatre, dental theatre and imaging room open on to a central prep room. Upstairs we have a well-equipped lab, staff room and kitchen, office, shower and bedroom. There is plenty of kit to play with computed radiography, DR dental radiography, ultrasound, therapeutic laser and flexible endoscopes. We do our rigid endoscopy and keyhole surgery in the Poole clinic.
What is our unique selling point? It could be the building, possibly the equipment or the location, but in reality it is the team of vets, nurses, receptionists and admin staff that makes Aniwell such a great practice.
We have four full time and two part time vets ranging in experience from 2 years to 36 years in practice. Hadyn and David enjoy fighting over the keyhole surgery cases - David has certificates in SA surgery and Endoscopy and Hadyn hasn't got anything at all but he does love doing it. Caroline is keen on ultrasonography and Caitlin's forte is medicine. Helen is our youngest vet who is just finishing 2nd year at the graduate academy and is all round excellent. Lucy and Claudia are our Head Nurses and they have been with Hadyn for the last 20 years. They manage a mixed team of qualified and trainee nurses who are not only very dedicated but also get along and are friends as well as colleagues.
We have a breadth of experience so we are keen to hear from veterinary surgeons of all skill levels including those who are keen to develop and hone their skills. A good foundation of knowledge and an enthusiasm for clinical practice is important.
