We have an exciting opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon to join us at Ledbury Park Veterinary Centre. The role will involve a varied daily case load of consulting and surgery, and our clients love that we place an emphasis on case continuity.
This position would ideally be four days (8.30am-6.00pm) a week, one weekday night on call, and one weekend in three (afternoon off in lieu). However, as a practice, we really value a good work-life balance and would therefore consider all applicants, including those who can’t commit to out of hours duties.
On weekdays, our vets generally have an early morning consulting session, then surgery and diagnostics until lunchtime. After lunch there are usually two more consulting sessions, with a couple of gaps built in for catching up on notes etc. Each vet has an allocated priority day for ops, when they will only have early morning and late afternoon consulting sessions, with the rest of the day available for surgery and diagnostics.
A typical weekend consists of a morning consulting 8.30am-1.00pm, and cover for urgent cases from 6.00pm on Friday to 8.30am on Monday.
About Us
We are a thriving independent small animal practice in Ledbury, Herefordshire, proud of our RCVS Accreditation and Cat Friendly Clinic Silver Award, set on the edge of parkland with our own duckpond! Ledbury is a growing market town within easy reach of the beautiful Malvern Hills, and in a great location for exploring the countryside in the surrounding area. Wales and The Cotswolds are a short drive away, but there are also good train links to Hereford, Worcester, Birmingham and London.
We have two spacious consulting rooms, an operating theatre and a prep/dental room, and are planning to create a dedicated cat/ small furry ward. We use Humphrey ADE circuits, multiparameter monitor, Idexx Procyte DX and Catalyst One analysers, digital x-ray (including dental), Chison Ebit 50 ultrasound, Tonopen and Orthomed MMP kit and SOP plates. We also have a visiting ultrasound referral service, and Cytopath laboratory is just a short walk away, meaning a same-day result for many of their tests.
The successful applicant will be joining our brilliant supportive team of four experienced vets (including two regular locums), three RVNs, two student nurses, three nursing assistants, four receptionists and our practice manager. We are a nurse training practice, so the ideal candidate will already be a Clinical Coach or keen to become one.
As a team we strive to provide the best possible care for our patients, their owners and our colleagues, so you would have complete clinical freedom to work up cases to a high standard. A range of experience levels will be considered for the role; there is ample support from our experienced vets and nurses, and we would love to welcome someone with ideas for development of the practice.
Applicant Requirements
Our successful candidate will be an enthusiastic team player who wants to excel at their job whilst providing excellent patient and client care for our expanding client base. Applicants need to be MRCVS, have a full UK driving licence and proof of right to work in the UK if necessary.
