The Role

Eureka Veterinary Centre in Ashford, Kent, is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic small-animal Lead Veterinary Surgeon to join and lead our small, delightful (we know everyone says that, but this is true!), friendly and efficient team on a full-time basis. Although, Part-time applications will also be considered. We value our team members and understand the importance of a good work/life balance and we offer a warm and welcoming working environment for all.

The role is very largely sole charge and includes a mix of consultations, surgery, and other procedures. You will have access to our sister practice Vet team to discuss cases with and our clinical director is happy to give support and advice whenever needed.

We pride ourselves on clear communication and always doing what we say, with high standards of care, great customer service and client continuity. We run 15-minute consultations and you will often have a Vet Nurse available to help in consults. Consults will run in the mornings and afternoons with time in the middle of the day for some surgical procedures, reviewing cases and lunch in our lovely local pub next door!

If you would like more of an insight to the role, then who better to ask than the current Vet. She is leaving to relocate to another part of the country. If you wish, you can email her at Charlotte.biddle@eurekavets.co.uk. She will be happy to arrange time to chat with you.

Salary

The salary for the role is up £80,000 per annum depending on experience.

About Us

We are a beautiful, light, and airy purpose-built SA practice in a small shopping centre located in Ashford.

The surgery is well-equipped including in-house blood machines and digital X-ray. Here at Eureka and our sister practice, we recognise that staff are key. We are open to new ideas and encourage input from every member of the practice. Over the years many of the innovative ideas we have put in place to improve things, have come from staff members in different roles.

We pride ourselves on providing excellent customer service and care for our clients, as well as the pets of course!

With a coastline, close links to London and the Channel Tunnel, Kent is also home to lots of outdoor activities and many castles, gardens, woods, nature reserves, lakes, rivers, beautiful walks, as well as Bluewater!

About the Team and Culture

Our team is made up of 2 full-time and 2 part-time Registered Veterinary Nurses, 1 Student Veterinary Nurse (shortly to qualify) and 2 Receptionists. Every member of our amazing team has an extremely positive attitude, and they make working at Eureka a pleasure. Our very experienced and organised head Nurse, Anna, is an excellent leader of the rest of the team and a huge support to Vets! A new graduate joined us in September who will be working with and learning from you.

You will have full support from an excellent senior management team consisting of a Clinical director, Practice Mangers, and Nursing managers.

We hold managers’ meetings at a meal in a pub about every 6 weeks. As a key player you would be part of the group. We discuss any issues, any ideas and how things are going. It is an open and collaborative meeting where everyone is free to speak their mind. The practice also closes for an hour and a half every Thursday for staff meetings.

This is a sole charge position and requires a reliable, responsible and flexible individual. You must be RCVS registered, competent with sole charge, have excellent communication skills and the ability to perform routine surgical procedures.
