Manor Veterinary Clinic
Folkestone, Kent, United KingdomWe are looking for a dedicated and passionate Veterinary Surgeon to join our team! The position is full time across a 4 day week with 1 in 3 Saturday morning 9-1, with half day in the week to compensate. No out of hours. Vets Now cover.
We perform operations in the morning, finishing by 1pm (most days!), then consults start at 2.30 until 6.30. The vets have time in the afternoon consults to write up notes and contact clients (and to have a tea break). We have a large prep area with our ultrasound machine, x-ray and dental x-ray. There are 2 theatres with multi-parameter monitoring. Cases are varied and interesting. We have 6 qualified nurses and one student so there is always someone to help and they are always happy to take your blood tests for you. Consults are 15 minutes long, with double appointments for complicated cases and euthanasia to give you time to deal with the clients and not rush.
We are in a large, purpose built building with lots of parking. There are 4 consult rooms, one of which the nurses use for their consults. We have a large dispensary and laboratory area where we can perform in-house blood tests. The prep area has our ultrasound, dental x-ray and kennels so pets can be monitored as they are recovering from their anaesthetic. There is a tub table for dental procedures. Off the prep area are 2 theatres and the x-ray room and another door leading to our main kennels and cattery which are separate so no dogs upsetting the cats! We also have an isolation kennel. There is a grassed, contained, outside area where in-patients can be walked in safety (there's also a picnic table where you can find staff having their lunch on a sunny day).
We currently have the equivalent of 4 full time vets. Our senior vet will be given the CD position in October. Violeta is currently taking a small animal surgery certificate, which we're all very excited about, she works 3 days a week. Steph has not long returned from maternity leave works 2 days a week. She likes neurological problems and dentals (we know that's a bit unusual). We have a graduate moving into her 2nd year who has fitted in really well so we're looking for someone to fill the gap being left by Sam who joined us from South Africa in the middle of a pandemic.
There are 7 nurses, 6 qualified and on student. They are a very strong team who run nurse clinics. We're hoping to re-start our puppy parties as soon as possible, which the nurses run on Saturday morning. We also have our reception team who have been with the practice for ever. They are always willing to help. Then there's the managers - there are 2 of us and we do our best to support the whole team. We have always held lots of charity events but unfortunately, have not be able to recently. Our 10th annual practice open day was cancelled in March 2020, we're hopeful for March 2022!
This position would be ideal for your first move after graduation. Ideally, we would like someone who can perform routine operations confidently. The current vet team are more than happy to assist our new colleague to grow into the role and you will be encouraged to achieve your ambitions.
