£36,000 - £46,000
Midland Veterinary Surgery
Leyton, London, United KingdomOne of our lovely vets is back from maternity leave in June and is reducing her hours. We are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to come on board and help us distribute our work load more evenly as we grow. We are a genuine first opinion practice and we offer our clients continuity of care and options whatever their budget. We work cases up in house but have a good relationship with other practices for referral if needed. Our days are a mix of consulting and surgery but this could be a consult only role. We provide admin time throughout the day and at the end of the day to avoid our team staying late. Our consults are 15 minutes (20 currently). We have a small exotics caseload which could be expanded if someone was interested. Hours are spread over 3-5 days, with a flexible rota. Shifts vary from 8-5, 10-7 and 8-2.Saturday rota 1:3 and only 8am-2pm with two vets working. No OOH and very limited sole charge. Salary £36k-£46k FTE (based on a 40 hour week).
We are a small and friendly practice with 4 vets and this role is to help expand our services and cover for two vets who have gone part time. Our clients come to us because they see the same team and we are good at communicating treatment options. We treat our patients and clients as individuals. We have digital x-ray and dental x-ray. In house biochemistry. Ultrasound. We are keen to expand our skills and if someone wants to join and improve their skill set we can make this happen via CPD and placements with larger practices. We are opposite Leyton Midland Road Overground and on lots of bus routes.
We have 4 vets (all more than 6 years qualified), one who enjoys dentistry (though we always welcome more dental vets). We are a nurse training practice and have 4 qualified nurses, 2 trainees, 1 care assistant and a dedicated reception team. Accommodation is available above the practice.
From Emma Whitaker, the Clinical Director:
‘I am the Clinical Director and I value my team and their life outside of work so try to do what I can to ensure a balance. I have an open door and aim to actively listen to my team about ideas for improving clinical standards, client and patient care and team education. We also strive to help our clients and patients whatever their budget, giving options and actively engaging with clients about what is best for the pet. I want to support my team to develop and can do this in house or via externships at other larger practices in the group and tailored CPD.’
We are looking for a vet who is happy working within first opinion from booster vaccinations to medical case work up and basic surgeries. If someone has a specialist interest we are keen to increase our surgical case load or support someone in whatever area they want to progress in. The most important thing to us is someone who can clearly communicate with our clients and team and appreciates that care has to be tailored to the individual.
