The Oxford Cat Clinic is looking for a First Opinion veterinary surgeon to complement our team.
We are a busy first opinion 2 site practice offering a unique opportunity to specialise in all things cat. Our four first-opinion vets are supported by our fabulous RVNs who run their own clinics and ANAs to help with cat-handling and the smooth running of the day. We pride ourselves on offering a high standard of care to our clients and their cats.
We know vets work at their best when there is good case communication and team support with a sensible work flow. We have a daily "huddles" at the start of the day with the whole team and a ward-round every afternoon for clinical staff. We offer 20 minute consultations as standard with gaps in the day for admin and lab reporting. Lunch breaks and finish times are respected.
The Oxford Cat Clinic also runs a Feline Internal Medicine Referral Service with 2 specialists and 2 Advanced Practitioners. Our First Opinion clinicians and patients are able to take advantage of this expertise on site
Role
Hours: Full-time 40 hours per week
One in four weekends (8 hours consulting over 2 days).
Working pattern: Tues-Fri with Monday off each week, and an additional day off the week following your weekend duty.
No out of hours on call. We do look after less-dependent cases on site overnight, with everyone providing a share of the in-patient care.
Candidate requirements:
Fondness of cats essential
Ideally 4years + UK RCVS registration and practice experience
Dental procedure competence necessary
Interest in feline medicine supported but not required
Supportive and friendly team mentality necessary
Interest in soft tissue surgery is an advantage
