Leading Willows Specialist Lands Top European Role
A leading specialist at one of the country’s top small animal hospitals has landed a key role with the European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS).
Chris Shales, an RCVS and European Specialist in small animal surgery at Willows Veterinary Centre and Referral Service, in Solihull, has been voted on to the influential committee leading the ECVS’s Scientific Programme.
He will serve on the committee for the next four years helping to coordinate the scientific content of the Europe-wide annual conference.
Chris, who graduated from Cambridge Veterinary School in 2000, said: “I am delighted to be taking up this role with the ECVS, which now has more than 4,000 specialists across Europe.
“The annual conference is extremely well attended by specialists, training residents and advanced practitioners from across Europe so helping to organise the content is clearly an important responsibility and I’m excited to be involved.”
Chris, who has been at Willows since 2009, is a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons and has also served as a member of the written examination sub-committee for the European College.
He is particularly interested in upper airway surgery, surgical oncology and is a member of the interventional radiography group at Willows.
