WEAR REFERRALS BOOSTS TOP TEAM WITH MORE EXPERTISE

A leading North East referral centre and animal hospital has added more expertise to its talented team of professionals.
Wear Referrals, in Bradbury, Stockton on Tees, has recruited veterinary surgeons Barbara Gomes and Harry Swales to join their expert staff at the state-of-the-art centre.
Bárbara, who graduated from the Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal, in 2009, has joined as a clinician in diagnostic imaging.
She recently completed a four-year residency in diagnostic imaging at the University of Glasgow’s Small Animal Hospital.
During her residency, Bárbara obtained the RCVS Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice in Diagnostic Imaging in 2017 and a master’s degree investigating canine oesophageal diseases in 2019.
Her specific interests include all aspects of abdominal ultrasonography and MRI.
Harry graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2014, initially undertaking a rotating internship in the North West of England and then working as a mixed-animal veterinarian in Wales and the North East of England.
He undertook an ECVIM internal medicine residency at the University of Liverpool, during which time he taught the nephrology (kidney) and blood-transfusion courses and was also awarded a certificate in advanced veterinary practice in small animal medicine.
Harry completed the residency this year and is now waiting to sit his specialist exam.

Wear Referrals, which is part of the Linnaeus Group, is a multi-disciplinary referral centre which offers expert care in neurology, orthopaedics, soft tissue, internal medicine, cardiology, intensive care, diagnostic imaging, anaesthesia and analgesia.
