Overview: I am a 23-year old communications professional having worked at a public relations agency as an account executive specialising in travel, transport, aviation and sustainability for ten months, fronting up multiple client accounts. Being brought into the communications and PR industry has been extremely exciting and the skills I have picked up have been invaluable. Having the chance to work on multiple clients meant I had an array of differing work which kept my day-to-day fresh, be that from creating relationships with national media and journalists, to planning upcoming events for an international audience. Due to this I am highly organised and attention to detail is key across all things in my life.
I studied Psychology and Criminology at university, and this life sciences degree gives me the knowledge and passion towards the healthcare sector that I could bring. During my degree I focused on biological science in multiple modules on neuroscience and this was always a keen interest of mine. During my dissertation, on racism and prejudicial imprisonment, I used multiple forms of software, using both quantitative and qualitative data.Having worked in a professional public relations and communications agency for 10 months as an account executive, I have gained a number of essential skills I have used across all forms of work. I worked extensively on writing impactful content for clients covering a number of topics from international press releases on the energy efficiency of aircraft for Luxaviation to blog posts on the sustainable forms of transport for the UK and Europe for SkedGo. I use my analytical skills during team meetings, planning for upcoming events, producing succinct expressive written content, and the reporting and evaluations of monthly targets.
I am highly organised and proactive, specifically in planning and time management. My creative flare and avid imagination, used for my passion of photography and writing music, helps to present ideas clearly and confidently to our entire team on future content for clients and event organisation. I worked within different teams on each client, as well as individual tasks and projects, both of which I enjoy. I worked extensively with Microsoft software including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, in addition to further reporting software in CoverageBook and Roxhill to produce monthly activity and coverage reports for each client. Recently I completed a certificate from The University of Edinburgh on Animal Behaviour and Welfare. My main passion has always been animals and particularly conservation. I have been to various animal sanctuary’s globally and participating in a two week long conservation expedition to Malawi in 2015.
During my job at 8020 Communications I drafted and distributed written content from extensive press releases, LinkedIn and blog posts for each client on a national and international scale, creating relationships with key journalists from national media along the way. Media lists were created for each client with contacts and relevant publication details. For each of the clients I managed their social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn, as well as their company website. I completed activity and coverage reports which were presented to each client monthly. In February, myself and two others from my team assisted the organisation of a sustainable transport and mobility event, MOVE2020, running the media information for the event and organising all national and intentional interviews for the event. This experience in a PR agency, both working within a team and leading projects, gives me the valuable experience I would need, bringing interesting and thought provoking ideas to the table, and working hard at following the values of the company to accelerate political action and create transformative policies for a green and prosperous UK.
