Overview: I have a very varied professional and voluntary background including telephone fundraising, healthcare records clerk for a hospital and varied placements and internships. Regularly adapting to new teams and roles means I am flexible and able to learn quickly. My experience of being a new team member gives me confidence when creating relationships with people, so I will fit in quickly. My positive, energetic attitude will also help me settle in quickly and get to grips with a new way of working.
In my administrator role at a hospital, I registered patient data, used the phones to contact patients regularly and used a patient booking system. I am computer literate as I have had to use technology for multiple professional roles and throughout university. This experience means I would quickly adapt to using an online booking system and be confident when calling clients and managing payments.
At the hospital I covered both the main and children’s outpatient’s reception, meeting and greeting patients, answering queries and helping people get to their appointments. I brought a positive, energetic attitude to this role to improve the patient experience. I often helped escort confused patients to appointments or helped reunite lost patients with their families. In paediatric clinics with long waiting times I made the effort to keep patients and parents up to date with realistic wait times, encouraging them to use the café and assuring them I would ensure they wouldn’t miss their appointments. I was asked back to work on reception as I had received positive feedback from patients and colleagues due to my enthusiasm for patient experience. This attitude would allow me to bring a friendly and welcoming face to both clients and pets.
I am a huge lover of animals of all types, but particularly dogs. I have volunteered to work with animals since the age of 11 working with everything from guinea pigs to shire horses to llamas to miniature goats. I have also boarded guide dogs for the past 10 years with my family. I am very confident with pets of all sizes and temperaments due to my varied experience. I have a dog and a hamster myself, who I always miss hugely when I am away from home. My love for animals would come across to clients, helping them to feel confident in your service. I am confident that I would be able to bring genuine enthusiasm to the role which I believe would be an asset to any practice.
