Overview: My name is Minnie Brun, I am 22 years old, willing to relocate, and looking to train as a veterinary nurse. I am ready to work immediately, and, more importantly, ready and excited to begin my dream career. I am experienced, hardworking, and eager, as I hope you will agree after seeing the following letter and CV.
I have always been fascinated with animals and was decided on a career in this field from a very young age, pursuing this straight away by gaining experience volunteering at the local shelters and animal charities, as well as undertaking an educational course at Knowsley Safari Park. I also have had various animals of my own including horses, dogs, cats, and small rodents. Education wise this meant a choosing a Biology A Level which progressed to studying animals at university, where I had the opportunity to work in the onsite reptile house, aviary, and farm. Alongside this, I also completed a six-month placement in Blackpool Zoo. It wasn't until I got a job in a veterinary referral hospital, however, that I truly discovered my passion and quickly worked my way from a weekend position, to part time employment on wards and ICU, to full time as a theatre auxiliary (including internal medicine), as well as gaining extra qualifications such as the VNA certification.
I am ambitious and dedicated, and believe you should always strive to be better. Working at VetsNow gave me many opportunities to do so, getting the chance to work alongside world renowned specialists and attending CPD events, as well as onsite training in CPR, emergency first aid, and triage. As it is a highly esteemed referral hospital, we are also trained to give Gold Standard level of care, enforcing qualities of commitment and perfection. Even more than that, though, is that I really enjoy and love my work, so much so that even while travelling I found myself drifting back to animals and getting employment in wildlife rehabilitation centres and on farms. I have now worked with animals for conservation, rehabilitation, assistance, and production, and whilst I have immensely enjoyed them all, it is my work in veterinary care that has made it obvious to me what I really want to do - to help and to heal.
The other reason my ambition is in veterinary is the client interaction aspect of it. I am very much a people person, outgoing and friendly, and one of my favourite parts of the job is seeing the owners as their beloved pet is returned to them. My work in retail and waitressing has honed my natural people skills, along with my reception work, which also taught me the importance of correct recording and use of businesses computer systems.
I cannot wait to start my career as a nurse, as I know it doesn’t stop at registration but is a continuous learning process in order to give the best care possible, and I am really grateful for the opportunity of starting this journey with your practice. Thank you again and I hope you consider me for the future.
