Overview: Dear Vets…
It has always been a dream of mine to become a Registered Vet Nurse and I pride myself on having a strong work ethic, as well as the ability to learn and apply myself correctly in all facets of this role.
I have been working as an Animal Nursing Assistant in a 24-hour hospital, since October 2021 , where I have had great exposure, and wonderful learning opportunities, in all facets of nursing, and with the goal of ultimately enrolling as a student veterinary nurse.
I strongly believe that my previous work in customer service has prepared me in so many ways for my career in veterinary nursing. The skills I have gained, to name a few, include the ability to work well independently, but also be a very supportive member of my team. I am able to remain calm under pressure, as well as being able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
My ability to prioritise in an ever-changing setting has been the most valuable in precious work settings. My special bond with animals and the passion I have for providing rehabilitation whilst in my care, the ability to provide calm and support to both patient and owners.
I can confidently say that all of my my skills and experience will make me a strong candidate for a career in veterinary nursing.
So far I have assisted the team under supervision and have gained competencies in the following areas:
- reception support via Merlin
-stock orders through NVS and Idexx
- animal handling
- assisting clients face to face with their pets
- op set up/ monitoring animals under sedation with guidance from colleagues
- waste protocols/sterilisation procedures
- daily support with consultations/discharges/catheter removal
- kit packing
- dispensary exposure for prescriptions
As a result, I strongly believe the level 3 diploma, through the apprenticeship scheme, is the route I wish to take in my career, and as such, I wanted to take the opportunity to enquire about any current vacancies within your practice. The pandemic has made me review the career path I want to take and feel being a mature student would be advantageous and add value to your business.
I feel a small animal general practice such as yours, would be able to provide qualified support, and the critical training needed, to acquire the necessary skills to enable me to become an RVN in a safe and supportive environment.
In addition to the above, please note that I have volunteered extensively for Cats Protection, as well as separately worked as a kennel/cattery assistant in a family-run business. I pride myself on being a pet owner, and have been horse riding from a young age. All in all, I have always found myself living with and caring for animals, and it has been a life-calling of mine: to help, support and care for animals as much as I can.
Please find my CV attached, which highlights my previous career history in more detail.
I thank you, in advance, for your kind consideration, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
