Overview: I have recently decided to return to the UK where I am orginally from after living in New Zealand for a couple of years to get my qualification as I would love to gain experience and knowledge from the world leaders in vet nursing and animal care.I am looking for any role or placement hours that will enable me to study towards my qualification and am more than happy to travel for this! I started to train as a veterinary nurse in New Zealand after a career change last June and have completed my first year towards the Australian Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing- the Certificate III in Animal Studies. During this year I have completed unpaid work experience across three clinics in Queenstown, New Zealand and in Melbourne, Australia totalling just over 230 hours. On top of this I studied at the Veterinary Nursing Training Institute in Melbourne to complete their intensive course in Foundations of Veterinary Nursing- for which I achieved a grade of 94%- a high distinction. I have learnt many skills in animal handling and restraint, how to complete physical examinations, assisting with anaesthetic monitoring, post- operative recovery, nutrition and feeding plans, anatomy and physiology, handling and administering drugs, positioning for radiography, preparing for procedures and surgeries and reception duties.I have also completed voluntary work and the Kiwi Birdlife Centre and a local dog daycare here which were great fun and incredibly interesting experiences. All of this has reinforced to me that I am completely passionate about the industry and will work extremely hard to achieve my dream of becoming a veterinary nurse. I will go above and beyond in any role by working hard to get all tasks completed no matter how small or unsavoury! I understand that training a new team member takes a lot of time and effort and am always aware of what I can do to assist in order to make this worthwhile for the clinic as a whole. My extensive background in customer services roles means that I am able to get along with people from all walks of life and am an excellent communicator and team member who can remain calm, friendly and positive in any situation.I look forward to hearing from you and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions!
