Advances in the understanding and assessment of pain, plus increasingly practical methods of providing analgesia, mean we a wide range of analgesic options but much to think about. Selecting the most appropriate anaesthetic plan for a variety of different presentations requires a case-based understanding of physiology and pharmacology.
Course Description
Designed for vets working in primary care practice, this one-day course will teach the principles of anaesthesia and analgesia for our small animal patients using lectures and case-based group work. All learning material, both lectures and small-group work, will take place online. The following topics will be covered:
Management of acute and chronic pain, and the creation of analgesic plans
Local nerve blocks; theory and practical guidance
Pre-anaesthetic patient assessment, screening, and the creation of anaesthetic plans tailored to the needs of the individual patient
Who is it for?
This workshop is suitable for vets in first opinion practice including those studying for an RCVS CertAVP.
