Early recognition and management of the sick neonatal foal is critical for a successful outcome. This webinar will focus on recognizing the sick neonatal foal, resuscitation and administering effective first aid in the field prior to further management and/or referral to a dedicated neonatal intensive care unit.
The webinar has been designed to provide veterinarians from mixed or equine practice with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills to confidently administer first aid for the sick neonatal foal in first opinion practice. The webinar may also be of value to those involved with hospital‐based foal care.
Key areas of interest that will be covered by the course include a review of normal parturition and the healthy neonatal foal, followed by recognition and initial assessment of the sick foal, resuscitation, and initial first aid and management in the field.
