Recorded Webinar: My Cat Is Grumpy Understanding Pain Related Behavioural Change

Royal Veterinary College

Duration: 1 hour(s)
Cost: £25

About this course
Pain is a very important factor in many behavioural presentations and this webinar will explore the link and discuss various ways in which pain can affect feline behaviour.

The recognition of the importance of pain for veterinary patients is relatively recent but to put it in context the use of analgesia in paediatric human surgery is also relatively recent. There is still some resistance to accepting the relevance of pain in the onset and progression of behavioural signs in companion animals but research into the importance of analgesia in both a surgical and medical context is beginning to help to turn the tide. Recent publications have highlighted the importance of considering pain when investigating behavioural change and this webinar will consider some of the behavioural presentations related to pain in feline patients. It will discuss the importance of analgesia when dealing with acute pain in relation to potential long term considerations and also look at the importance of a multi-modal approach to the management of chronic pain.
