About this course
Would you like to be more confident in your approach to a definitive diagnosis and/or effective treatment plan of camelid skin disease?
South American camelids, such as alpacas and llamas, are small in number as a national herd. They belong to highly motivated owners who are keen to promote their health and welfare. Such animals seem to be prone to chronic skin disease; in many cases reaching a definitive diagnosis and or effective treatment plan can be challenging.
Chronic skin conditions are well recognised in alpacas and llamas. A variety of parasitic and microbial factors, amongst others, may be involved. This course aims to help you be aware of some of the causes of skin disease of alpacas; how you may use appropriate diagnostic tests to establish a diagnosis; to be aware of potential treatment strategies.
Why do this course
If you are seeing alpacas in general practice then you will be seeing skin disease cases. This course will help you to build your confidence in approaching these cases. This course will help you to establish a plan of investigation and to manage owner expectations in the long term management of chronic cases.
