Research Manager - Animal Health (Parasitology)
12‑Month FTC (strong potential to go permanent) | Dublin | €60,000–€70,000
A fast‑growing animal health company is looking for an experienced Researcher to join their team, this role sits at the centre of their mission, owning parasitology research and turning high‑quality data into real‑world products.
This is a hands‑on Research Manager position. You’ll spend most of your time in the lab, designing and running studies, analysing data and driving projects to completion, while also providing day‑to‑day leadership and commercial focus to a small, multidisciplinary team.
It’s a 12‑month FTC with a very strong likelihood of becoming permanent as the business continues to scale and R&D demand grows.
The Role:
- Lead research projects end‑to‑end: study design, sample and data collection, analysis and interpretation.
- Work mainly in the lab, with practical experimental work alongside existing scientists and engineers.
- Provide scientific leadership, mentoring, training and supervision of the research team, helping to prioritise workload and keep projects on tight timelines.
- Translate scientific findings into commercially useful outputs, working closely with product and commercial colleagues.
- Lead the submission of scientific papers for peer-review publication.
- Contribute to conference activity and external visibility, helping to build the company’s profile in animal the health community.
- Drive continuous improvement of lab processes, documentation and quality, while keeping a pragmatic, product‑focused mindset.
The successful candidate:
- Strong background in veterinary, animal health, microbiology or a related discipline, with substantial experience in parasitology and/or infectious disease diagnostics.
- Proven hands‑on lab experience; you enjoy being at the bench and are comfortable doing a high volume of practical work yourself.
- Experience in animal health, veterinary diagnostics or closely related fields; start‑up or industry experience is an advantage
- Demonstrable ability to work to tight deadlines and deliver multiple projects in parallel.
- Some leadership experience, this could be supervising students, mentoring juniors or coordinating lab work, with the appetite to step up and own a small team’s direction.
- Clear commercial awareness: you understand that the goal is not just great science, but usable products in the hands of vets and farmers
- Entrepreneurial mindset, you want to grow with the business, spot opportunities and are happy to build things that don’t yet exist
- Pragmatic and outcome‑focused, you balance scientific rigour with the need to hit commercial timelines.
- PhD in a relevant discipline
