Are you an experienced professional in the animal health industry with a strong commercial mindset and a technical background in the ruminant sector?
We're recruiting for a Senior Business Development Manager to lead commercial activities across Scotland for a highly respected and innovative company in the animal health space.
This is a strategic, consultative role suited to someone who thrives on building long-term client relationships, driving sales growth and influencing the market at a senior level.
The Opportunity
As Senior Business Development Manager, you'll take ownership of commercial performance in your region, delivering against revenue and margin targets. You'll work closely with veterinary practices and farm businesses, deepening existing partnerships while identifying and securing new business opportunities. This position requires a high level of autonomy and strategic thinking, along with the ability to translate technical knowledge into actionable on-farm solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Lead business development activities across Scotland within the ruminant sector
- Strengthen relationships with key veterinary accounts and build new partnerships
- Drive territory sales growth and achieve gross margin objectives
- Plan and manage your own schedule
- Conduct joint farm visits and demos in collaboration with veterinary professionals
- Represent the business at conferences, industry events and internal meetings
- Maintain detailed CRM records and leverage data to inform strategic decisions
- Efficiently plan travel across the region
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in animal health, ideally a veterinary sales or commercial role
- Demonstrable success in territory growth and account development
- Strong understanding of the veterinary and ruminant sectors, with the ability to engage on technical topics
- Strategic mindset with excellent commercial acumen and negotiation skills
- Proficient in CRM systems and data-driven account management
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the confidence to influence senior stakeholders
- Self-motivated, highly organised and driven to exceed expectations
In return, you'll receive a salary of up to £70K DOE, a quarterly performance-related bonus, company car, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, death in service cover, pension and a private health care scheme.
