This board-level position has become available due to growth and succession planning within the business. The right candidate will work closely with the Technical Director to lead a team of Research Scientists, Quality Control Operators and Engineers to complete successful project cycles that result in innovative products.
The privately owned business has decades of experience in research and development with the production and manufacture of patented products that are distributed internationally. This role has a high focus on research and development over three areas. These are environmental benefits, improved animal welfare and resource utilisation.
Responcibilities include:
- Oversee multiple research projects simultaneously, ensuring quality, timeliness, and adherence to budgets.
- Develop new products, and technologies, from concept to market launch including manufacturing scale-up. Facilitating the translation of research findings into practical applications or commercial products.
- Ensure research outputs comply with regulatory requirements and industry standards
- Present research findings to the board and potential commercial partners.
- Manage intellectual property strategies, including patents and licensing opportunities.
- Secure funding through grants, commercial partnerships, and other sources.
- Develop and maintain relationships with academic institutions, industry partners, and other research organisations.
Key requirements:
- A Ph.D in Animal Science or a related field, a degree in Veterinary Science, an MBA or a similar degree is preferred.
- Experience in animal health research alongside some commercial experience.Proven track record of successfully translating research into commercially viable products or services.
- Experience in product development, preferably in animal health, nutrition, or the environmental control of emissions on-farm.
- Excellent project management skills with a focus on delivering results within budgets and timelines.
