Locum Registered Veterinary Nurse – University Teaching Clinic (London)

Teaching & Mentoring Focus | Ad Hoc Dates | 8:30am–4:30pm

A genuinely different locum RVN opportunity – not standard clinical cover.

GVC is working alongside a university-led Veterinary Teaching Clinic to build a pool of highly experienced Locum RVNs to support Clinic days throughout the year.

This role is designed for RVNs who enjoy teaching, mentoring and leading, working closely with fourth-year veterinary students as they gain hands-on experience in anaesthesia, surgery and post-operative care under expert supervision.

The Role

As the lead RVN on site, you will work alongside academic, RCVS and technical staff, supervising small groups of undergraduate veterinary students during routine neutering procedures.

You will play a key role in maintaining exceptional standards of animal welfare, patient safety and clinical governance, while supporting students in a calm, structured and encouraging learning environment.

This is a rewarding, responsibility-led role suited to confident, senior RVNs who enjoy sharing their knowledge and experience.

Key Responsibilities

Supervision of up to 8 veterinary students during anaesthesia, surgery and post-operative care

Supervision and assistance with anaesthesia and theatre procedures

Preparing theatre, prep areas, kennels and surgical equipment

Supporting students with patient care, documentation and discharges
