Locum Veterinary Surgeon – Staffordshire
A long-established, small family-owned practice is seeking a long-term Locum Vet Surgeon to help restore stability following the retirement of the senior vet. This is a genuinely important role within the practice, offering continuity, autonomy and the chance to make a real impact while longer-term plans are assessed.
Role details:
🩺 Locum Veterinary Surgeon – Staffordshire
📆 ASAP start – ongoing
⏰ 2–3 days per week (Tuesdays & Fridays initially; third day Wed or Thurs)
🕘 9am–6/6:30pm (with regular 10am starts)
🏥 100% sole charge
🐾 Predominantly small animal
🗓 ~1:4 Saturdays (10am–1pm)
❌ No on-call or OOH
Clinical set-up:
• Mix of 15-minute consults and ops (not suitable for consults-only vets)
• Core surgical requirements include bitch spays, dentals, dog castrations and lump removals
• Support from RVN & VCA colleagues
• Loyal client base built over 25+ years
The practice ethos:
This is a traditional, community-focused practice with a strong emphasis on clinical independence and vet autonomy. They’re looking for a thorough, detail-oriented vet who takes time to review full clinical histories and values continuity of care. The right person will be confident, motivated, and respectful of a more traditional approach, while also open to helping drive positive change.
There is real flexibility for the right individual, and longer-term opportunities — including future partnership potential — may be available once stability is achieved.
Other information:
🏠 No accommodation available
📈 Interest in surgical efficiency and skills benchmarking welcomed
🚨 Rota support is genuinely needed — this is a key role for the practice
If you’re an experienced locum looking for a stable, respected position where your contribution truly matters, this could be an excellent fit.
