What does the Practice Manager role at Coombefield Vets look like?
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Practice Manager to join our friendly and dedicated team at Coombefield Veterinary Hospital. You will work closely with our Clinical Directors to ensure smooth running and development of the business.
Your role will be to manage, lead and develop all support functions of the practice to maintain our high standards of customer and veterinary care. We need an enthusiastic person to help manage and motivate the team, organise non-clinical staff, as well as provide support for the reception team leader and clinical team.
As part of the Practice Manager role you will help to recruit new staff, provide HR support and be responsible for financial management (assisted by our finance and accounts Administrators), oversee Health & Safety, deal with customer concerns and promote wellbeing for our staff. Alongside this you will coordinate the maintenance & repair of the premises at both sites, work with the Clinical Directors to make key decision and be present in both CVH and IVC regional and national (Exeter, Bristol and Birmingham) team meetings. You will liaise with the Area Support Manager and Area Director who provide support for the practice leadership team.
This is a full-time, 40 hours a week, permanent position, working 5 days a week (Mon - Fri) 8.30am - 5.30pm. There will be no weekends or on call.

Coombefield are an RVCS accredited purpose-built veterinary hospital together with a branch surgery in an area of outstanding natural beauty near the South Coast. We are in the historic market town of Axminster. The practice is within walking distance of shops, a gym, railway station and a swimming pool.
We have almost 50 members of staff, which allows us to provide a top service to our clients. There are 12 talented vets (full and part time) supported by a large, dedicated and ambitious nursing team providing routine, emergency and out of hours services. As a veterinary nurse training centre our teams include students and veterinary care assistants. We also have a reception team, together with finance and accounts admin. Several of our talented vets have, or are studying for, certificates/higher qualifications, we are proud and pleased to be supporting them with this.
Our staff are great to work with, many have been with us for years and we welcome new members in to the Coombefield family.

- Experience with recruitment and providing HR support
- Excellent IT and communications skills required
- Previous management experience, knowledge of veterinary practice and a basic understanding of book keeping process and finance is essential
- Enjoy challenge, keen to improve efficiency and meet targets
