Help Search Locate is currently recruiting for a permanent Animal Care Assistant to join our client’s Thornton Heath branch. This role will offer you the opportunity to work within a supportive team, gain valuable experience and make a real contribution to the health and wellbeing of animals.
The successful candidate must have an impeccable work ethic and be highly organised, with the ability to work to a tight schedule. You will be flexible and adaptable to the ever-changing needs of the branch and be able to respond to urgent requests for assistance. A strong commitment to animal welfare and the ability to show empathy and compassion are also essential requirements.
You will be expected to work 40 hours per week, with shifts between 8-6:30 and a Saturday rota of 1:3 (8:30-1). Tasks will include animal handling, inpatient care, running of blood samples, assisting the vets, general cleaning, cleaning and sterilising of surgical instruments, helping answer the phones and emails.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
• Previous experience of working with animals in a veterinary environment
• Ability to handle animals with care and respect
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Knowledge of animal health and welfare
• Ability to use basic computer systems and software
