We’re excited to be working with an independently run, well-established small animal practice in South West England that's on the lookout for a Head Veterinary Nurse to lead and inspire their brilliant nursing team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated RVN ready to take the next step into leadership, or an experienced Head Nurse seeking a supportive environment that genuinely values clinical excellence, autonomy, and team wellbeing.
🏥 About the Practice
This locally run clinic prides itself on inclusivity, a genuine Just Culture, and a warm team atmosphere. They’ve earned ISFM Silver Cat Friendly and RAW Silver Rabbit Friendly accreditation, and are also a Veterinary Nurse Training Practice. Their nurses play a key role in delivering high-quality care, with duties including:
- Blood sampling & catheter placement
- Monitoring anaesthetics
- Radiography
- Dental scale and polishes
- Inpatient care
- Nurse consults and clinics
You’ll be joining a close-knit team of 3 RVNs, 1 SVN, and 2 VCAs, and will be working alongside a highly experienced Practice Manager and veterinary team.
💼 The Role
- As Head Nurse, you’ll be responsible for:
- Day-to-day leadership of the nursing team
- Ensuring smooth clinical operations
- Supporting nurse development and training
- Encouraging a culture of continuous improvement
- Collaborating with the wider practice team to optimise patient care and workflow
This is a full-time position (40 hours), though we’re happy to consider a minimum of 35 hours per week for the right candidate.
Shifts are Monday–Friday with just 1 in 5 weekends, and no OOH, on-call or back-up rota – so your downtime is truly yours.
