We’re currently supporting a well-established veterinary practice in the Dorset area in their search for a passionate and experienced Head Registered Veterinary Nurse to join their team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident RVN looking to take the next step in their career and lead a dedicated nursing team while still being hands-on in clinical care.
🏥 About the Role:
As Head Nurse, you’ll play a key role in both leadership and clinical delivery — from guiding the nursing team and running nurse-led consultations to supporting surgeries and ensuring patient care is consistently delivered to the highest standard.
This is a full-time permanent position and would suit someone who is not only experienced in all aspects of small animal nursing but also thrives in a leadership role, with a passion for mentoring and developing others.
🔧 Responsibilities:
- Lead and inspire the nursing team to ensure top-tier patient care
- Maintain a strong clinical presence, including inpatient care and assisting in surgery
- Manage nurse consults, including Schedule 3 procedures
- Oversee the smooth running of day-to-day clinical operations
- Encourage continuous improvement in nursing protocols and best practices
- Support and collaborate with the wider veterinary and administrative team
- Assist with training, coaching and professional development of team members
- Ensure adherence to regulatory and professional standards
✅ What We’re Looking For:
- RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse
- Previous experience in a senior or Head Nurse role (or ready to step up)
- Passion for clinical excellence and patient care
- Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills
- Ability to support and develop a team
- Experience running or helping implement nurse clinics and consultations
