An independent practice in East Sussex is seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse to join their supportive team.
The practice provides its own out-of-hours service, a care model highly valued by its clients. The team culture is supportive, with the senior leadership team actively encouraging ongoing learning and development. As the practice currently supports student veterinary nurses, applicants must possess prior qualified nursing experience to act as a role model and support the team.
📋 Position Details:
- Hours: Full-time (5 days per week) preferred. 4 days per week can also be considered (working approximately 08:00 – 18:00).
- Out-of-Hours: Equal share of the practice's in-house out-of-hours rota (remunerated on top of the hourly rate).
- Key Responsibilities: Delivering first-class inpatient care, monitoring anaesthesia, assisting with surgical procedures, performing diagnostic tests (blood sampling, urinalysis, radiography), administering treatments, dispensing medications, performing minor procedures (suturing, dental hygiene), maintaining theatre hygiene and infection control, and assisting with client education and nurse consults.
💰 Pay & Remuneration:
- Hourly Rate: Approximately £15.75 – £16.25 per hour (depending on experience).
- OOH Allowance: Additional remuneration paid on top of hourly rate for out-of-hours cover.
👤 Candidate Requirements:
- Qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse with active RCVS registration.
- Prior post-qualification nursing experience (essential due to existing student nurse supervision within the practice).
- Strong practical skills in anaesthesia, diagnostics, theatre protocols, and patient care.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.
