An exciting leadership position has opened for a Head Registered Veterinary Nurse to join a well-established, busy small animal practice based in Essex.
This role offers a high degree of autonomy, allowing you to partner with the Clinical Director to shape practice operations, raise clinical standards, and foster a positive, supportive nursing culture. You will also participate in quarterly leadership meetings alongside Clinical Directors and Practice Managers to help drive overall clinical and operational direction.
🏥 Practice Highlights:
- Care & Services: On-site care including orthopaedic and laparoscopic surgery, advanced diagnostic procedures, advanced medical workups, and round-the-clock inpatient care.
- Role Scope: Leading a nursing team of RVNs, SVNs, and Patient Care Assistants, managing clinical governance, and overseeing practice equipment and pharmacy stock.
📅 Rota & Hours:
- Position Type: Full-time or Part-time, Permanent.
- Part-time Minimum: Minimum 3 days per week.
- Duties: Hands-on involvement across consultations, anaesthetics, theatre, and inpatient care.
👤 Candidate Requirements:
- RCVS registration and experience in small animal general practice.
- Confident clinician across consulting, theatre, and inpatient care.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
- Experience in leadership and mentoring (including as a Clinical Coach) is preferred.
- Commercial awareness or business experience within veterinary practice is an advantage.
💰 Salary & Benefits:
- Salary: £35,000 – £37,000 per annum (pro rata if part-time).
