Night Registered Veterinary Nurse – Essex
Salary: £32,000 (pro rata)
7 on / 14 off rota | 8pm–8am | Average 28 hours/week
We’re assisting a busy 24-hour small animal hospital in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, now looking for a Night Registered Veterinary Nurse to join their dedicated night team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an RVN who enjoys ECC, inpatient care and clinically focused, hands-on nursing.

This modern, well-equipped hospital supports several local branches, offering a varied caseload including medical, surgical and emergency work. As the Night RVN, you’ll play an essential role in triaging emergencies, supporting the night vet, and delivering high-quality care to inpatients throughout the night.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional nursing care to emergency and hospitalised patients
- Triage and assist with emergency cases as they arrive
- Support examinations, stabilisation and procedures
- Perform core nursing duties (IV lines, bloods, diagnostics, medication, fluid therapy)
- Monitor critical care patients using advanced diagnostic and monitoring equipment
- Maintain clean, organised wards and ensure accurate clinical notes
- Help ensure smooth overnight operations and preparation for incoming cases
About You
- RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse
- Confident in inpatient and emergency care
- Strong team player with good communication skills
- Comfortable working independently on night shifts
- Passionate about providing excellent patient and client care
