The Role
Here at Sundean Veterinary Group, we are looking for a Head Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team. As well as being a good nursing clinician, with ability to run a wide range of nursing clinics, we would like someone who is able to improve the standard of nursing care at our group of practices, including the development of qualified and Student Veterinary Nurses. The candidate will be responsible for building good relationships across all sites, providing continuous communication on nursing matters.
The rota will probably require full-time hours, which can be split across 4 or 5 days plus participation in a weekend rota (1:7 Saturdays most likely). The shift patterns can be flexible, but generally most of our Nurses work a combination of either 8.30-4.30 shifts (early shift) or 11-7 (late shift) during their week. There is no on-call.
The salary for this role will be up to £32,000 depending on experience.
About Us
The practice is made of three self-sufficient practices, albeit with some sharing of staff resources. Each site has senior staff in place and a team of Nurses and Receptionists. Our equipment includes x-ray, ultrasound, dental x-ray, surgical equipment, and blood machines.
We have a total of 6 Veterinary Surgeons, 7 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 10 Reception staff and a Practice manager. We have a certificate holder in small animal medicine, ophthalmology and diagnostic imaging, plus visiting orthopaedic surgeons and specialist ultra-sonographer. The candidate will be instrumental in helping a cohesive clinical approach across the sites, supporting, and developing the Veterinary Nursing team. We support a local rabbit rescue charity with fundraising and by volunteering.
