Exciting opportunity for a Registered Vet Nurse to join a vibrant and flourishing referral practice on a 12 month contract in Gloucestershire. You will be part of the referral departments in Surgery, Medicine, Ophthalmology, and Dermatology. If desired, there is also an opportunity to work within the ward department. Your responsibilities will cover inpatient care, anaesthesia, and assisting in procedures for all referral cases. Daily tasks will include;
- Setting up the department, areas, and equipment
- Receiving patients from senior clinicians, obtaining detailed handovers, and collaborating on patient plans for anaesthesia/diagnostics
- Preparing patients for procedures in collaboration with clinicians
- Providing support to other team members when necessary
- Assisting in receiving and responding to emergency cases as required
- Conducting patient discharges and providing handovers to ward staff
The team comprises of 40 RVNs, SVNs, and hospital assistants. Many of the RVNs hold advanced diplomas and certificates, and they are enthusiastic about providing support and learning opportunities to newer team members. Seeking an individual to commit to 24 to 40 hours and are open to exploring various flexible working arrangements. The minimum requirement includes working on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays with 1:8 weekends, allowing the option of either working on-site or participating in the on-call rota for advanced anaesthesia, based on individual preference. The ideal individual will be someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys a diverse caseload where each day brings new challenges and opportunities, this role will be a fantastic fit. Previous referral experience advantageous but not essential. The recent hospital expansion has given brand-new facilities, including 5 state-of-the-art theatres, a medicine suite equipped for ultrasound and endoscopy, a dedicated dental room, an x-ray room, spacious ward areas (complete with a separate cat ward and treatment room), and even a separate exotics ward, there is also have an on-site CT scanner.
