ob title:
Cardiology Referral Registered Veterinary Nurse - Woodcroft Veterinary Hospital - Stockport, Cheshire
Job description:
Exciting opportunity for an experienced RVN to join our Cardiology Department at a multi-disciplinary referral hospital at Woodcroft in Stockport.
We are looking for a passionate and dynamic individual for this rewarding role. You will have a great opportunity to be involved in the nursing care of a variety of conditions including, but not limited to, acquired heart diseases, congenital heart diseases, and arrhythmias.
We are looking for an RVN with a good understanding of cardiology and (after a period of induction training) who is confident supporting patients during cardiology procedures, including CT and bronchoscopy (under sedation and anaesthesia). You will possess or develop confidence to apply monitoring equipment, such as Holter monitor or CAM device to our patients.
The successful candidate will have great communication skills to ensure our clients and referring practices receive excellent customer service. You will be patient and caring towards our often-fragile patients and support them through their diagnostic investigations. You will have the ability to work on your own at times but also possess great teamwork skills to allow the cardiology team to communicate and work effectively (as well as all other disciplines within the hospital). You will support our clinician using your computer skills, including sending ECG recordings to be reported, external blood tests, etc.
Our cardiology nurses work closely with the reception team and our referral coordinator to triage the referral caseload as well as making regular wellbeing phone call assessments with our long-term chronic cases.
We offer a supportive learning environment for our nurses – CPD is encouraged and funded. Many of our nurses have achieved or are working towards certificates in further studies (anaesthesia, surgery, dentistry) and/or advanced diplomas. We host regular in-house CPD, hold ‘Clinical Club’ meetings every 3 months and the nurses were heavily involved in us achieving Hospital Status with the RCVS Practice Standards Scheme (we are also working towards multiple awards).
Full and part-time flexible positions will be considered. We ideally need support for 20-30 hours a week - the priority being the first half of the week. There will be 1 in 3 weekends. Days off in lieu given for any shifts worked at the weekend or bank holidays.
A typical candidate should have:
- RVN status (newly qualified nurses welcome- training provided)
- Confidence in their professional abilities
- Ability to work well individually and as part of a large team
- Desire to offer gold standard clinical care at all times
- Interest in cardiology
