We’re working with a friendly and forward-thinking small animal practice looking for a Head Registered Veterinary Nurse to lead their nursing team, help deliver outstanding patient care, and provide exceptional service to their loyal client base.
🩺 About the Practice
This purpose-built clinic is designed with patient comfort and gold-standard care in mind—offering separate cat and dog wards, an isolation unit, and a dedicated sterile theatre. Facilities include ultrasound, digital x-ray, in-house laboratory, and advanced monitoring equipment.
They see a varied and interesting caseload, with visiting specialists carrying out complex procedures such as orthopaedic surgery, cardiac scans, and abdominal ultrasounds. Appointments are longer than average to give both the team and clients time to focus on quality care.
🌟 About the Role
As Head Nurse, you’ll take an active role in both clinical work and team leadership. You’ll:
- Oversee the daily running of the clinical team and workflow
- Support and mentor RVNs, VCAs, and student nurses
- Encourage professional growth and develop individual skills within the team
- Take part in appraisals, audits, and quality improvement initiatives
- Ensure a high standard of patient and client care across all areas of the practice
You’ll also have plenty of hands-on nursing opportunities, from theatre and anaesthesia to nurse clinics and inpatient care.

We’re looking for a proactive, organised RVN with strong leadership skills and a genuine passion for patient welfare. You’ll be confident in mentoring others, comfortable with all aspects of the nursing role, and keen to contribute to both clinical and business success.
🕒 Working Pattern
- Full or part-time options available
- No out-of-hours
- 1 in 3 Saturday mornings (paid or TOIL)
- Two shift patterns:
- 8:45am – 5:15pm
- 10:45am – 7:15pm
