A well‑established small animal practice in Liverpool is seeking a Deputy Head Veterinary Nurse to join its growing nursing team. This role supports the Head Nurse in driving clinical standards, efficiency, governance and continuous improvement across the surgery. It’s an excellent opportunity for an RVN who enjoys leadership, thrives on variety and wants to contribute to a positive, forward‑thinking clinical environment.
The Role You’ll work closely with the Head Nurse to support the day‑to‑day running of the nursing team, ensuring high standards of patient care and client service. The ideal candidate will be a team player with strong communication skills, confidence across a varied caseload and a proactive approach to supporting colleagues.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with clinical governance and workflow
- Supporting and mentoring the nursing team
- Helping drive efficiency and continuous improvement
- Contributing to a positive, collaborative team culture
- Delivering excellent inpatient, theatre and consulting care
Working Pattern
- Full‑time nurses typically work a 4‑day week
- 9‑hour shifts with a mix of consulting, inpatient and surgical duties
- 1 in 4 weekends
- Duty nights on rotation
- Flexible working options available
