The role
Medivet have an opportunity for a veterinary nurse to join our team at the stunning Alfreton hospital in Derbyshire.
Alfreton is our 24 hour hub in the middle of the region receiving cases form our other practices which leads to interesting and varied work with lots of nursing.
What will you be doing:
Your average day will include a variety of nursing and surgical duties as well as assisting with nursing clinics. Full support will be provided as you will work closely within our experienced team and our nurses really do get to nurse.

You must have a passion for delivering outstanding client and patient care and enjoy working in a supportive working environment. You'll have a friendly and positive attitude and want to progress and expand your knowledge and skills further.
Strong mentorship and support will be available to help you develop your career and get the most satisfaction from your job. You'll be free to devote all of your time to looking after your clients and patients.
This is a permanent, full-time role working 40 hours per week with 1:8 full weekends.

Key accountabilities
- Nursing/discharge of in-patients, prioritising patient welfare and care. - Training of junior nurses & supporting students in practice. - Running in house lab samples and organising repeat prescriptions. - Nurse consultations.
Skills and experience
- Registered with the RCVS. - Commitment to animal welfare. - Ability to keep on top of practise protocols and procedures. - Excellent organisational skills.

Within our Alfreton Park hospital you will be working as part of a large, driven team of 10 vets, 12 nurses and 5 receptionists.
Our busy and dynamic team of nurses and receptionists work alongside a team of vets whom are are mostly all certificate holders who specialise in dermatology, surgery, internal medicine and others studying towards emergency and critical care and ophthalmology.
The practice is well-equipped with six consult rooms, separate dog and cat wards, three sterile theatres, separate suites for diagnostics, dental facilities, digital x-ray, two staff rooms and much more.
Our referral hospital works to high standards throughout and are dedicated to delivering amazing client and patient care.
