A highly respected veterinary hospital situated on the scenic Wiltshire and Oxfordshire border is seeking a full-time Internal Medicine Nurse. This dedicated role offers the rare opportunity to completely submerge yourself in advanced medicine, giving you the time, space, and specialist casework needed to build incredible clinical depth and build a long-term career pathway.
The Rota & Hours
- Status: Permanent, Full-Time
- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Shift Patterns: Scheduled flexibly between 08:00 and 20:00
- Weekends: Low-intensity 1 in 8 weekend rota (with dedicated time off in lieu the following week)
- Bank Holidays: Just 1 designated bank holiday shift required per year
The Caseload & Medical Exposure
In this focused role, you will take true ownership of complex, chronic, and acute medical cases. You will work closely with clinicians to oversee patient continuity and advocate for your patients across an intricate caseload including:
- Complex endocrine disorders & gastrointestinal diseases
- Advanced respiratory, renal, and urinary conditions
- Specialised infectious disease protocols
- Chronic case management & oncology-related conditions
Structured Onboarding & Training
You will never be thrown into the deep end. The hospital provides a meticulous induction framework to transition primary care nurses seamlessly into a referral-style workflow:
- A fully mapped-out, structured induction plan
- Dedicated initial shadowing periods alongside experienced medicine nurses
- Regular 1-on-1 clinical check-ins to monitor your comfort levels
- Gradual, self-paced progression into full department responsibilities
About You
- Must be a qualified, RCVS-registered Veterinary Nurse.
- Ideally holds at least 1 year of post-qualification experience in practice.
- Possesses a genuine fascination for inpatient care, diagnostic workups, and complex medicine.
- Prior referral experience is an advantage, but not a requirement. The hospital is highly eager to meet motivated primary care nurses who display the right enthusiasm, proactive attitude, and commitment to learning.
