Our client is currently on the lookout for a passionate and dedicated Small Animal Veterinarian to join their thriving veterinary practice. We are seeking a professional who is committed to providing outstanding medical care to a variety of small animal patients.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Conduct thorough consultations and administer medical treatments to animals.
- Perform surgical operations, including neutering, spaying, and general surgery.
- Provide emergency and out-of-hours veterinary support on a rotational basis.
- Maintain accurate clinical notes and ensure clients are regularly informed about their pets' treatment progress and any laboratory results.
- Guarantee regular and consistent professional attendance, punctuality, and personal appearance.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety policies and procedures.
- Promote practice's special offers, nurse clinics, and other relevant news to clients whenever feasible.
- Supervise support staff and provide guidance and direction as necessary.
- Sustain a continued commercial awareness and manage client expectations with comprehensible estimates and steady updates.
- Forge and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and the general public.
- Address general client enquiries and support other staff in customer service roles.
- Pursue continuous professional development as required by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) guidelines.
- Carry out other occasional tasks as directed by the practice manager or practice principal.
Hours of Work:
- Weekly rotas provided in advance.
- Typical start time is 8:30 am or 8:00 am when on surgical operations duty.
- Finish times range between 5:30 pm and 6:30 pm on standard days.
- Weekly on-call shift until 9 pm, with a 1 pm start on those days.
- Four-day workweek with one full day off if not following a weekend.
- Shared weekend rota with 1 full weekend in 5; consults on Saturday and Sunday morning and on-call until 5 pm.
- Days off on Monday and Friday following a duty weekend.
Other Requirements:
- Posession of a full driving license and personal car, insured for business use.
- Residency within a reasonable commuting distance from the practice.
Key Contacts:
- Internal: Practice Principal, Practice Manager, Veterinary Staff, Nursing Staff, Reception and Administration Staff.
- External: Clients.
Essential Role Related Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
- Membership with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.
- Post-qualification experience in small animal practice.
- Occasional experience with large animals is advantageous.
- Strong communication capabilities, both verbal and written.
- Computer proficiency.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- A customer/client-focused mindset.
- Ability to perform efficiently under pressure.
- Self-motivated with the capacity to work independently.
- A positive and enthusiastic approach to work.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- A valid driving license is necessary.
