An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Vet Surgeon to join a long-established, truly independent practice in Berkshire. Operating as an accredited Veterinary Hospital with local branch surgeries, this privately owned group takes pride in offering high clinical standards and complete clinical freedom to its team.

You will join a progressive team of 7 vets (including two certificate holders) fully supported by an experienced team of 11 RVNs, receptionists, and administrative staff. The culture is warm, supportive, and collaborative, with many staff members having been with the practice for over 10 to 20 years.

🏥 Practice & Role Highlights:

• Varied Caseload: Full scope of first-opinion duties including consultations, surgical procedures, diagnostic investigations, dentistry, and inpatient care.
• Base Location: Working across the group's sites, primarily based at the main hospital facility where surgical and hospitalisation facilities are located.
• On-Site Inpatient Support: A resident nurse is on site 24 hours a day to care for hospitalized patients overnight.
• No Overnight On-Call: Out-of-hours emergency care past 9pm on weekdays and 5pm on weekends is managed by an external OOH provider.
• No Sole Charge: Work alongside a supportive clinical team.

📅 Rota & Hours:

• Pattern: Full-time, 4 days per week.
• Standard Shift Times: 8:30am start (8:00am on surgical days) to between 5:30pm and 6:30pm.
• Late Shift: One late finish per week until 9:00pm (with a late start at 1:00pm on these days).
• Weekend Rota: 1 in 5 weekends (Saturday and Sunday morning consults, on-call until 5:00pm).
• Time Off in Lieu: Monday and Friday off following your working weekend.
• Travel Requirements: Clean driving licence and vehicle required (business mileage fully reimbursed).

👤 Candidate Requirements:

• Qualified Veterinary Surgeon registered with the RCVS.
• Minimum 2 years of post-qualification experience in a first-opinion setting.
• Confident with first-opinion surgery, diagnostic workups, dentistry, and routine consulting.
