Our client has an opportunity for a Large Animal, Out-of-Hours Vet to join their team in Southwest Wales, serving the region's rural farming community. The role focuses on supporting two veterinary practices in West Wales by providing 24-hour emergency care, particularly for the area's pedigree beef and sheep farmers. This role is perfect for a farm vet with a passion for emergency care and surgical obstetrics, who enjoys the autonomy and flexibility of out-of-hours work.
You will be managing diverse farm animal emergencies, especially surgical obstetrics, making this role ideal for those interested in emergency surgical procedures. This role is specifically designed to alleviate the burden of on-call work from the daytime vets, giving them more time to focus on routine cases while you focus on night-time and weekend emergencies. The successful candidate will be confident in working independently, attending to emergencies from the comfort of their home and building strong relationships with both clients and the local veterinary teams.
The successful candidate will be responsible for and required to
- Confidence in handling farm animal emergencies, particularly in beef and sheep farming, is essential.
- Experience or interest in surgical obstetrics is key, with significant opportunities to develop in this area.
- Developing strong relationships with farmers and local veterinary teams.
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
This is a Permanent, Full-Time role working one week on, followed by one week off, allowing ample time to enjoy personal interests and explore the beautiful Welsh countryside and coastline, renowned for its golden beaches and hills. However, our client will consider a part-time role for the right candidate so please do let us know your preferences.
